Help Us Meet the Youth Where They Are

L2C’s vision is education empowerment through equitable access to social, emotional, and financial literacy for the low to moderate-income and minority youth we serve in Prince George’s County. Prince George’s County is 62 percent Black, almost 21 percent Latinx, and growing.
Our programs focus on meeting students where they are. We need your help to allow L2C to advance our hands-on learning and mentoring in which students explore the real-life applicability of their learning with the goal of on-time high school graduation, college acceptance, and completion.
According to the National Center for Education Statistics, Black and Hispanic students graduate from high school at a national average of approximately 80%. However, only about 20% of Black and Hispanic students are accepted into accredited colleges. According to the College Graduation Statistics, only 41% of college students graduate, highlighting a significant gap in higher education completion for students of color. Furthermore, according to the Pew Charitable Trust, “The suicide rate among Black adolescents is increasing faster than among other racial and ethnic groups. From 2007 to 2020, the suicide rate rose by 144% among Black youth ages 10 to 17.”
L2C was founded in direct response to this local and statewide education, mental health, and wealth crisis. The data makes it clear: People of color and communities that have long been underrepresented face limited access to college, stable careers, and long-term economic security.
We need your help! Please give today so that our programs can continue to provide comprehensive support in education, emotional wellness, financial literacy, and career readiness. Every dollar you give directly helps our youth thrive.
